A Sweet Nautical Nursery

The nursery is finally done! I truly love the way this room turned out.  We had so much fun creating this space for our baby boy and couldn't be happier with this room.  I wanted to make sure this was a room that could grow as Lucas grows and not make it solely just a baby room. Originally, we thought the theme for the nursery would be nautical but it morphed more into a theme of exploration and adventure.  We couldn't be happier with the result.

The focal point of the room is the crib.  We were fortunate to received the crib as a present from my parents.  I love that it is a crib that will grow with Lucas, eventually turning into a full size bed.  Above it we hung two beautiful nautical prints that we found on Etsy.   We bought four prints in total an could have not been happier with the results.  The prints are awesome quality and their bold color pops.  We then hung two miniature oars that we purchased from Joss and Main above the prints to finish off the area above the crib along side the nautical themed mobile that we hung from the ceiling.

On the right side of the room we created a sitting area, anchoring the space with a large sofa chair.  Above it, we hung two wooden airplane models that I found at HomeGoods.  I also found a map with the words "Adventure Awaits" at Target.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it for Lucas's room.  On the right side of the chair I positions a side table that I also found at Target and hung the remaining two nautical prints above.  The lamp, we made from an old lamp that I had stashed away in a closet and wrapped it in rope from the Home Depot.

On the left side of the crib, we installed to shelves that Tony and I created ourselves.  We headed to Home Depot and had the wood cut on site.  Then brought them home, sanded, and stained before hanging them on the wall with beautiful silver anchors.  We bought two model ships from Amazon and filled the rest of the shelf space with items and books that we received from our baby shower.  Below the shelves, we have the toy chest.  This is actually a chest that my dad built for my 15th birthday.  I sanded and painted the chest a Peacock color from the Behr brand of paints.

Across the crib, we created the changing table area.  We bought a red Hemnes 3 drawer dresser from Ikea.  I then created more shelving by turning two milk crates on their sides and using the same wall anchors that we used on the shelves, hung them from the wall creating a shelf.  I also painted them the same color as the toy chest.

We had so much creating this room for our baby boy and are so happy to have Lucas in our lives.  He is the light in our eyes and we cannot wait to see him grow up and enjoy his room.

DIYs of the rope lamp, milk crate shelves and toy chest are coming soon, so stay tuned and follow me on social media so you don't miss out!
