Autumn Charm: Step Inside Our Fall Home Tour

With Halloween firmly behind us, I cleansed my home of anything spooky and pulled all the stops to welcome the fall season into our home. It feels nice to refresh and reset the house before the rush of Christmas arrives.

I like to take this time to look over my Halloween decor and decide what I want to keep or donate, as well as organize my Halloween to make it easier for next season. Once I have Halloween put away, I like to give the space a good clean and go room by room, slowly bringing out my fall decor pieces.

ENTRYWAY

I always like to reset this area before anything else because this is the space that visitors first see as you welcome them into your home. Setting the mood and feel for the rest of my home starts here. In our entryway table I added alstolemeras flowers in a burgundy color. You will see that I try to carry this color in some form throughout the rest decor.

DINING ROOM

This past month, we took the kids to a farm for some fall fun and there we selling these beautiful magnolia wreaths. As soon as I spotted it, I knew I had to have one to hang over the mirror. The wreath inspired this whole space and really helped me lean into embracing the fall season.

Playing with the table setting has always been something that I enjoy doing. It can really elevate the simplest of meals and make a gathering with your friends and family feel that much more special. Simple grocery store flowers for middle of the table and our everyday plates are elevated by simple touches with the tablecloth and napkins.

A simple way to update any space is to think about the colors that remind of that season. For me, oranges, red, and yellows, always remind me of fall so I tend to decorate a lot with them during this time of year. An easy way to do that in the kitchen is by adding fresh flowers (or faux) flowers. Not only do they help to add color but help bring in a natural element to a space that typically has a lot of hard surfaces.

LIVING ROOM

In the living room it’s all about textures. I added blankets in moody colors with cozy fabrics. Throw pillows matching our fall colors were added to carry them throughout the house. The TV art was updated with a fall themed painting - this is my favorite way to update the space depending on my mood and occassion - best of all, it’s free! All you have to do is search on YouTube for a screensaver and there are tons to choose from.

BEDROOM

Unfortunately for us who live in Florida, we still aren’t getting that fall weather that so much of the country is alreay experiencing. So I try to update my bedding with color rather than layers. I added a velvet quilt in the most beautiful burgundy color that I’ve used throughout my home. Throw pillow covers from Ikea help carry the moodiness of the season into this space as well.

FAMILY ROOM

Our family room gets the most use throughout the day. This is where we all hang out after a long day and hang out. This is also where I work 90% of the time while the kids are in school or while they are doing their homework. I added faux flowers here to help bring my fall colors to this space while keeping the rest simple.
