5 Simple and Easy ways I reimagine my Home when I'm ready for a Change

Bored with your home decor? I feel you. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember at least twice a year I would get bored with my bedroom and beg my mom to let me rearrange, paint, decorate my space. Thankfully, she was always up for letting me experiment with my room. As I grew up and got my first apartment, I remember spending hours thinking up ways to change up my space.

Years later, whenever I start feeling bored with my home there's nothing more satisfying that rearranging furniture or giving my closet a good clean out. As a homeowner there's always something that needs fixed, redone, rearranged, or cleaned and for someone like me, it's a match made in heaven.

Here’s a list of home projects to do whenever your are feeling bored with your home:

#1: Play around with furniture

Playing around with furniture has got be one of the most affordable and impactful ways you can update a room in your home. Any piece of furniture is fair game! I recently created a sitting room in our principal bedroom with two swivel chairs that once where in our playroom and in our kids rooms. In our living room, I removed a side of our sectional and put it in our home office, then created a more spacious living room by adding two chairs.

#2: Rearrange Art

Moving art around my home is one of my favorite ways to update a space. It's amazing how something so simple, can really change the look and feel of a room. This doesn't just pertain to paintings or posters but also plates, baskets, mirrors - anything that can hang on the wall!

#3: Focus on Lighting

We all know that lighting can play an important role in helping create the right mood for your space but playing around with your lighting can also be fun and help refresh your space. We used the an antique brass chandelier and sconces in my daughters room that once lived in my grandparents dining room. I scored two brass and glass table lamps off Facebook Marketplace and so far they have lived in our living room and dining room.

#4: Redecorate your Shelves

Organizing your bookshelves in a new way can create just enough change to evoke a fresh, new feeling.  Every time I make the effort to take everything down and clean off the shelves, as I'm putting decor back in a new way I'm surprised at how small changes can change the look. I've also even changed the style of our shelves. In our office, we created a wall of shelves when we first moved in. As my interior decorating style evolved, the shelves started to feel a little too farmhouse for my taste, so I updated them by using a router to give them a nice decorative edge and painting them the same color of the walls: "Stardew" by Sherwin Williams.

#5 Declutter and Organize

Whenever I take the time to declutter and organize my space, not only does it improve the overall atmosphere in my home but also improves my mood. Decluttering helps me create a sense of calm in my home. Taking the time to organize a closet, cabinet, or simply a drawer helps everyone living in our home and reduce our stress.
