High-Impact, Low-Cost: Our Entryway Makeover Under $200

Who says a home makeover has to break the bank? We just gave our entryway a refresh and didn't spend a fortune! You really don’t have to spend a lot of money in order to make impactful home improvements that will stand the test of time. With a little creativity and a smart budget you can go a long way. For under $200, we transformed this space into a welcoming area, focusing on three key elements: an updated chandelier, a charming new rug, and some creative updates to our existing wall sconces to accomplish a whole new look.
Here's how we did it, bringing our vision to life to look like this:
The Chandelier: A $68 Glow-Up
The updated chandelier really got this refresh going; it set a more casual tone that we were wanting to balance out the antiques and oil paintings I inherited from my grandmother. I honestly can’t claim credit for finding this steal of a deal- our brand new chandelier that my mom found on sale on Amazon for a mere $68.
Our old entryway chandelier was functional, but really didn't fit the rest of our home and a little too modern for our taste. We wanted something that felt more traditional and yet still offered a touch of casual elegance.

Wall Sconces: No more Glass Shades
Once we had the chandelier in place, I really felt I had to tone down the wall sconces. I got a little more creative and instead of replacing the entire fixture, which can be pricey, we opted for a budget-friendly update. I found these gorgeous fabric lampshades on Amazon for just $30 for a set 6! I used two lampshades in our hallway and four in our living room refresh (read all about it here). They instantly softened the light and added a sophisticated touch that completely changed the fixture's aesthetic. The existing frame was perfectly fine, so swapping out the shades was a quick and easy DIY. It's amazing what a difference new shades can make! This simple change elevated the entire look of the entryway without requiring any rewiring or a hefty investment.

The Area Rug: $77 of Instant Warmth
An entryway rug is more than just a decorative accent; it defines the space, adds warmth, and protects your floors. Our previous rug was looking a little tired, as our dog loved to play with the tassels that I ended having to cut off. So once we updated the chandelier and wall sconces, we knew we had to finally update the area rug to something that would tie the whole space together.
We stumbled upon this beautiful area rug from the Chris loves Julia line for an unbelievable $77 on Amazon! I may have an Amazon shopping problem at this point! The pattern and colors instantly brought a cozy and inviting feel to the entryway. It perfectly anchors the space, drawing the eye and making the entryway feel more intentional and complete. Plus, it's durable enough to handle daily foot traffic, which is a must in a home with young kids and a dog!
The Grand Total: Under $200!
Chandelier: $68
Area Rug: $77
Total (excluding existing furniture and art): $175
As you can see from the image, these simple updates completely transformed our entryway. The refreshed chandelier now casts a warm, inviting glow, along with the update wall sconces, and the new area rug adds a layer of comfort and style the space was desperately needing. We're thrilled with how much of an impact these low-cost changes made.
