Can you believe the holiday season is almost here? I’ve been craving cooler weather, Christmas decor, and all the holiday activities, but it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the hustle and bustle that the season brings. Before we can get to the fun parts (hello, tablescapes and decorating Christmas trees!), we need to tackle the deep clean. We all know the kitchen is the heart of the home, where all the holiday magic happens, so why not give it some special attention before the holiday rush?

Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t about scrubbing every inch of your house - it’s about a more strategic deep clean in the high-impact areas of your home. Let’s make our homes feel intentional, clean, and ready for guests without the stress!

The Kitchen Reset AKA The Heart of the Home

Before we start cleaning, we need to declutter!

  • Pantry and Fridge Purge: It’s time to be ruthless! Toss expired, old items, wipe down shelves, consolidate, and organize as you go. This will allow you take stock of what you have and what you may need for all the upcoming holiday cooking!

  • Cleanse your Countertops: Store away any non-essential small appliances to maximize prep space. The goal is to maximize your prep space for rolling out pie crusts and setting up the appetizer spread. Clutter-free counters instantly make the whole kitchen feel clean and calmer.

Now that we’ve decluttered, we can shine and sanitize!

This is where we get our kitchens sparkling clean!

  • Cabinet Doors: Pay special attention to spots near and around the stove area, as they can get greasy from cooking. A little warm water and a degreasing dish soap with a microfiber towel will be efficient in removing all the built-up grime.

  • The Appliance Glow-Up: Taking the time to deep clean your microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, and any other appliance you use regularly is the quickest and most satisfying way to make your whole kitchen feel brand new.

  • Finally, make sure to wipe down the top of the fridge, the range hood, and give your sink a really good scrub. If you have any stainless steel appliances, this is the time to give them a good polish.

Ready for the Holidays!

The kitchen reset is complete! You're not only ready to host, but you can also breathe a huge sigh of relief. You've tackled the most essential space, setting a calm and clean foundation for all the festive fun to come—from baking cookies and hosting cozy gatherings to simply enjoying a tidy space.

What's the first fun holiday thing you're going to do now that your kitchen is gleaming?
