Kitchen Update: Adding a Chandelier over the Island

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start.

We've hit the ground running  with my long line of projects that I want to accomplish for 2020 and can't wait to show you the first reveal that should be coming up in February.

Today I wanted to show you a little update we just completed in our kitchen. I've been wanting to do this for a while so when I saw this chandelier go on sale, I had to jump on it!

As we fine tune our modern traditional style in our home, we're finding ourselves updating and tweaking a few things here and there in rooms that we’ve already "made over."  As you know, a big project that I tackled last year was updating our kitchen. You can read about all the changes we made here. One of the many updates was giving these IKEA pendants a little makeover in the hopes of making them a little more modern and less farmhouse.

Although, I LOVE how they turned out, the shape of the pendants still felt farmhouse style to me and they didn't provide the visual impact that I was hoping for. As I researched my next step, I started noticing all the inspiration pictures that I had saved had just one large chandelier. I loved how substantial they look over the island.

So pretty, right?!

After searching the internet for what felt like days, I finally landed on this chandelier from Amazon. I'm so happy we decided to take the risk on it because wow, did it make an impact.

The kitchen feels so much more open now that the sightline isn't obstructed as much. It definitely helped elevate the space to that modern traditional look that we are going after and ties in nicely with the chandelier in dining room. What do you guys think?
