Special Announcement!

As the new year approaches, I'm excited to share an important change here at Dapper House Designs. As of Friday, December 15, Dapper House Designs blog will be rebranding to a new name, House by the Preserve.

Why the change?

You see, when I first started this blog, not only was I super excited about starting a new venture but also trying to fulfill a life long dream of becoming an interior designer. So when I was trying to come up with a name for my blog, I focused on interior design. But my blog has become so much more than that. I'm a sucker for a good, cheap DIY and creating an organized, clean home is always my goal. So when I thought about how I wanted to take Dapper House Designs into the new year, I couldn't help but think, does the name really fit?

As Dapper House Designs was starting, I had just quit my full time job working in the financial industry to become a stay at home mom to my then newborn baby boy. Not only was I going completely out of my comfort zone, but I was putting myself out there in way that I had never done before. You see, I don't really post a lot of personal stuff online in general, so when I started DHD and realized that I was going to have to tell people about myself, I found the thought terrifying! What if people don't like me? Or what if they hate everything that I post? Countless of what if's floated around in my head, but with the encouragement of my wonderful hubby, I pushed the negative thoughts aside and decided to go for it. Without him, this blogging thing would probably still be a dream.

Starting DHD forced me to step out of my comfort zone, to branch out away from my little bubble and you know what? I'm SO glad that I did. I've spent countless of hours researching, learning about marketing, photography, blogging, coding, just to make this little passion project a reality. And you know what? I've met SO many supportive, wonderful bloggers that are always willing to help, share their expertise, or simply give me their honest opinions. (Shout out to my Blogging Tribe group!)

This time around, I wanted to have a blog name that represents me, my home, and our life. My hubby and I purchased our first home in a small, tight nit community, south of Jacksonville, Florida where golf carts can be your main source of transportation and outdoor activities are abundant. So when trying to come up with a name that fit our life and a little more personable to us, House by the Preserve was born. Our little home backs into a beautiful preserve that we get to enjoy daily sunsets views through.

So what's to come in the New Year?

A new name means a whole new look. I will try my best to make the change as seamless as possible with little to no interruption to you. All I ask is that you bear with me for these next couple of weeks as I complete the changes. I'm excited to share what I have in store and cannot wait to show you!

As far as content, you can continue to expect to see all our adventures in decorating and redecorating our builder grade house as we turn it into our home. DIY's to help create a home you love and organizing and cleaning tips to help keep your home in tip top shape will also be in a focus in the New Year.

I hope that you've enjoyed being with me thus far and I cannot thank you enough for all the love and support, you, my dear readers, have given me. I can't wait to show you what I have in store in the coming year!

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with interior decorating and using my hands to create beautiful things to incorporate in my space.

I believe that making your house a home shouldn’t be a difficult or expensive but exciting and most of all fun! It isn’t about the size or location of your home but about being able to create a space that is yours to fit your budget without sacrificing style.

Having recently purchased our first home, we’ve been busy creating a space that is ours as we blend my and my husband’s styles together. Explore the site to see what we have accomplished!
