Summer Home Tour 2017

Can you believe that summer is about to come to and end?! I know, right? Time flies when you are having fun!

Today, I thought it would be fun to share with you the updates that I have given my home throughout the summer. It hasn't been all fun and games around here! I have been busy with several projects throughout our home and I'm super excited to finally be sharing them with you!

Welcome to our home!

This summer, the word that I have kept repeating to myself is simple. Keeping things simple, light, and airy is the look that I have been going for this summer and I just have to tell you, it feels so good to get rid of unnecessary clutter around my home!

In our hallway, I added these brass wall sconces from Amazon that I got for FREE! Check out my blog post if you want to know how I did it and how you can do it too!

The dining room got a little bit of an update with my new plate gallery wall (check out my tips here) and new area rug. I am loving how bright and airy this area feels now. I reupholstered my dining chairs a light mustardy yellow  to match the new area rug that I got from Overstock. Updating the dining chairs was a super easy DIY that totally pulled the look of the room together.

Our kitchen pretty much stays the same throughout the seasons but this year, I added a coffee and tea bar. We have been loving having this little area for our morning coffee.

Another room that has gotten an update is the family room.  I have to admit that I purchased a new area rug in this room as well. I just couldn't help myself! The new ones were so affordable and pretty and I was able to sell my old area rugs which helped pay for the new ones :) The rest of the updates in this room have just been rearranging decor pieces around my house. I have to say that I am pretty happy with this layout now. I feel the room flows a whole lot better now.

This summer, I also participated in a $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry.  I decided to go bold with our powder room makeover and painted it "Very Navy" by Behr. Can you believe I completed this whole makeover for less than $100?! You can read all about it here and check out the rest of the reveal!

That completes my summer tour! I hope you guys enjoyed seeing what I have been up to this summer.

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with interior decorating and using my hands to create beautiful things to incorporate in my space.

I believe that making your house a home shouldn’t be a difficult or expensive but exciting and most of all fun! It isn’t about the size or location of your home but about being able to create a space that is yours to fit your budget without sacrificing style.

Having recently purchased our first home, we’ve been busy creating a space that is ours as we blend my and my husband’s styles together. Explore the site to see what we have accomplished!
