2021 Home Goals + Projects

Good riddance 2020! Woo hoo!! Am I right?!

As I'm sure has been the case for a lot of people, life has been hard this past year. Wishing the year 2020 to be over has been on the top of my list for months and I for one, am happy to finally see it go.

As I dream about what kind of year I want to create in 2021 for my family and I, it's hard for me not to think about the home projects I want to tackle. Decorating and improving my home is my love language. I absolutely love coming home and seeing my family enjoy all the hard work we put into it. After a year of staying home (and who knows how much longer we will have to continue to stay) I have made it a mission to make our home work better for us now

Am I gutting the place and starting over? No, not in the cards for us, lol. I'm all about doing small, affordable updates that I can build upon throughout the time we live here. Every year, my husband and I sit down and go through the list of projects that we would like to focus on for the new year. Why you ask? Because it helps us keep focused. I absolutely love interior design and home decor, and tend to get easily distracted by pretty things. Especially if I spend enough time on Pinterest and Instagram, there’s just so much inspiration! By putting my home goals in writing, it helps me stay focused with our specific plan for our home.

So without further ado, here's the list of our 2021 Home Goals:

Kids Bathroom Makeover

Our kids have been living without a shower curtain for well over a year and storage is a major problem. We are over the nautical theme and would like to elevate the room a bit with some of the finishes. No bathroom makeover would be complete if I didn’t paint the walls and some cabinets!

Kids Closet Makeover

We decided to remove the closet doors from our two little ones closets because they kept getting their little finders caught in the bi-folds, so now my focus will turn into making the closet space match their bedroom!

Guest Bathroom Makeover

I previously did our guest bath makeover while participating in a $100 Room Challenge and I am ready for a change! I have big plans and dreams for this space that I'm hoping to share with you later this year!

Exercise Closet Makeover

We previously had our workout area in our garage, but with this Florida weather, it always felt like you were working out in 100 degree weather. This past year, I decided to give up my walk in closet (whaaaat?!) and make it into our exercise space when we invested in a Peleton bike. Best.purchase.ever! If you know me, then you know I have to make this new space not only pretty, but functional. Right now, it's just a storage unit with a pretty bike in it.

Update my new clothes closet

Since I gave up my walk in closet (see above), I moved my clothes to a much smaller closet and had to remove the bi-fold doors because…kids. So I would like to give it a small makeover to not only make it more functional for me, but also pretty to look at.

Closet Office

If you have been following me since the beginning, you know I am a huge fan of utilizing your closet space to create an office. This past year, when my both myself and my husband found ourselves at home 100% of the time, it was evident that we both needed some desk space. Another set of bi-folds doors in our house was removed and a desk was fit into the space. Now it's all about making it pretty!

Dream Pantry Makeover?

Current Pantry - we’ve tried to make it work but the space could be used A LOT better.

The question mark means that we may not get to start this project. But I always like to include a possible makeover on my list so that I have something to strive for. The pantry is the vain of my existence and am hoping to come up with an affordable update that both my husband and I can agree on.

And there you have it folks, my wish list for my home for 2021. I highly encourage you to come up with your own list. Whether it be small decor updates, or finally changing that light bulb that's been out for years, writing it down will encourage you to finally cross it off your list!

Happy New Year!
