Transform Your Bedroom for Fall: How One Simple Purchase Made All the Difference

Is it too early to start talking about Fall? As the kids start their second week of school, I am finally getting back into a routine at home and I have to admit, my brain has been obsessing over all things Fall. It may feel like summer for another two months here in Florida, but that doesn't stop me from wishing and dreaming of the cooler weather that's in my future. Back to school season always seems to inspire change. A change in my surroundings - bring on all the dark, moody colors and put away all the summer fabrics. Move on Summer, Fall is coming!

While perusing home decor on Amazon late at night, as one does, I found the most beautiful, velvety quilt in a deep plum color. I quickly added it to my cart and put my phone down before I impulsively made a middle of the night purchase. When I woke up the next morning, I was still thinking and already redecorating the room in my mind around said quilt. We all know where this is going - I bought the king size set and patiently (not really) waited for it to be delivered.

Best. Purchase. Ever.

Maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but look how much the mood of the room changed with just one purchase?! The quilt was just as beautiful as I imagined and it really inspired me to use the rest of my own decorating pieces to create a moody space that feels cozy and inviting. I've been itching for a change in our bedroom and I can't believe that with just one simple update, the room almost feels completely different.

I paired the quilt with two throw pillow covers that I got from IKEA a few years ago. IKEA is one of my favorite places to get pillow covers because they have a wide variety and most importantly, they are super affordable making it an easy way to update your space. They paired perfectly with the quilt and love the moody, dark colors that they brought in.

I carried the plum color throughout the space by adding touches of it in different ways. On a nightstand, I used flowers in the similar color and on the desk in between the windows, I used taper candles. I used the TV and displayed art with complementary colors to tie each area together.

I’ve been on the look out on Facebook marketplace to replace the IKEA dresser underneath the TV but haven’t found anything yet. For now, I’, making this dresser work by dressing up the top with some of my ‘treasures’ as my 5 year old would say.

I’m excited with how the room turned out I’m now in the mood to keep spreading the moodiness of Fall to the rest of the house.
