A White Christmas Home Tour

Do you decorate for Christmas before or after Thanksgiving?

I used to be able to make myself wait until after Thanksgiving, but ever since having kids I find myself wanting to decorate earlier in November. There's nothing like seeing your little one's faces light up as you set the tree up and switch the lights on for the first time.

This year, we pulled out our Christmas tree in early November and set it up without any ornaments for a couple of days.  I intended to wait for a couple of weeks, but who am I kidding? I'm a home decor blogger after all and I couldn't wait to get started!

Our main tree lives in our family room this year. Since there’s a dark navy wall behind the tree, I wanted to keep my ornaments light to ensure that they popped. So this tree is decorated with gold, silver, and white ornaments. I purchased the white flowers last year from the Dollar Tree and just love how I can clip them on. The trick to making it look real is to nestle them in the tree rather than just putting them up front.

I also decorated our TV unit with white accents as well. I love how all the white touches in this space stand out rather than get lost against the blue accent wall.

On the sofa, I decided to keep things simple and just add a couple of wintry colors and fabrics, rather than focusing just on Christmas. One lesson that I learned last year is that if I decorate very heavy in Christmas decor, by the time Christmas actually rolled around, I'm ready to take most of the decor down. My hopes is that by incorporating some wintry accents rather than solely focusing on Christmas decor I can easily transition into winter after the holidays.

Our hallway also got decked out for the holidays with a pretty garland that I purchased last year at IKEA. If you are looking for affordable and pretty holiday decor, be sure to check out IKEA. I think this garland was around $15 and it's well over 6 feet long! I just dressed it up with Dollar Tree faux flowers and lights.

The faux flowers in the vase are from…you guessed it the Dollar Tree and on the other side, I added my DIY reindeer that I spray painted silver to help add some height.

I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of Christmas decor throughout my home! Leave me a comment below and let me know if you've already decorated!

Happy Holidays!

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with interior decorating and using my hands to create beautiful things to incorporate in my space.

I believe that making your house a home shouldn’t be a difficult or expensive but exciting and most of all fun! It isn’t about the size or location of your home but about being able to create a space that is yours to fit your budget without sacrificing style.

Having recently purchased our first home, we’ve been busy creating a space that is ours as we blend my and my husband’s styles together. Explore the site to see what we have accomplished!
