I’m super excited that December is just around the corner because that means that It’s time to deck the halls! The holidays always bring my family and friends together, so I can’t help but think of cozy nights gathered around the dinner table, a warm fire (or oven in my case!), and bringing in some of the outdoors to the inside with trees, garland, candles, and all the wonderful scents the holiday season brings.

When my friends at Joss & Main wanted to chat about the holidays, I couldn’t wait to share my tips, advice and inspiration for The Holiday Edit.

Joss & Main: What signifies (drum roll, please) “The Holidays” to you? Is it the dropping temperature, the lights going up downtown, or Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby on the radio?

The Holiday season has become my absolute favorite time of year recently because I get to experience it through my young kids eyes again. There’s nothing better than seeing their little faces light up as they see all the holiday decor come out. Sharing with them the magic of Christmas as we decorate our home, bake holiday treats for our friends and neighbors, and going out to see all of the Holiday lights around our little town has become one of our favorite family traditions that we look forward to each year.

Joss & Main: What’s special about this year’s holidays? Any intentions or big goals for this season?

This year will be the first year that we will be hosting Christmas dinner in our home, so I’m super excited about creating a menu and making our home feel extra special. I want to bring in a Christmas tree into our dining room which is something I haven’t done before and introduce a more natural approach to decorating by using natural looking wreath and garlands and a lot of velvet bows!

Joss & Main: Is your home feeling ‘winterized’ yet? How do you plan on adding more cozy elements to your home?

Living in Florida, there isn’t really a need to winterize our home but I do like to focus on bringing out layers during this time of year. We never know when it’s going to drop below 50 degrees (cold for us Floridians!) and it’s nice to have throw blankets already out and ready for use. I tend to add a lot more throw pillows to our sofas and chairs in a velvet fabric to create a cozy feeling. I also focus a lot on layering in lighting with lamps, sconces, and candles as the days get shorter and shorter. Creating nooks throughout our home to cozy up to read a good book or watch a movie is always the goal.

Joss & Main: Where do you get your inspiration from for holiday decorating? Do you lean more to “Little Women” with handmade orange slices and primitive garlands- or go classic with cream tones and clean lines a la Cameron Diaz in “The Holiday”?

As a home decor content creator, I love to explore different ways to decorate for the holidays each year. That doesn’t have to mean buying all new decor every year but finding new ways to use my existing decorations. I love the challenge of creating a completely different look each year without really having to spend a lot of money. This year, I’m really liking a more natural look our dining room Christmas tree and dining table while letting the tree in our family room be more traditionally decorating in greens and reds.

Joss & Main: What products from the Joss & Main Holiday collection resonate with your decorating style? How would you incorporate them into your home?

As I mentioned above, this year I’m really into decorating my home with a more natural, realistic look, so as soon as I saw this faux pine wreath I fell in love. For my dining room holiday tablescape, I envision using a garland down the middle of the table with the silver ornament garland layered in between along with the cutest ceramic Christmas trees. The Christmas tree dressed up in antiqued gold ball ornaments that will just elevate the space topped with a beautiful start topper.
