Kids Bathroom - The Moodboard
This month, my goal is to give my little one’s bathroom a makeover. It’s been in a sad state for quite a while now. The curtain rod kept falling off so finally one day we got fed up and just completely removed it. My kids have been showering in our bathroom ever since!
I lost all sense of urgency in getting this bathroom guest ready last year as COVID shut down the prospect of us having any over night guests. With hopes that things will start improving, I’m finally going tackle this space.
The Before:
I thought I would show you how I go about planning for a makeover and how I budget for the room. I’ve been doing my room planning this way for a long time now and it definitely helps set my expectations as I’m usually the dreamer that would LOVE to just tear everything out and start brand new just so I’ll be able to chose every material that goes into the space.
I start by making a list of all the smaller projects for the makeover on a spreadsheet. For example, in this bathroom I want to paint the walls, paint the cabinets, fix the shower curtain situation, update storage above the sink, etc. Then I write down any measurements that I may need while researching what products to bring into the space. If I’m planning on buying certain items online, I will include the link as well as taking note of the cost so that I can make sure I’m staying on budget.
After my spreadsheet is complete, I pull everything together on a moodboard to make sure that all the elements that I want to bring in make sense and work well together. The moodboard is the final step in helping me visualize all the changes without actually doing anything to the room.

Once the moodboard is complete and I’m happy with all the elements, budget, and projects for the space is when I actually start making changes in the space.
