New Year, New Home Tour of our Traditional Ranch Style Home
This past year didn't allow for much posting on the blog as my littles (now school aged kiddos) got adjusted to school life. With the new year, I'd like to take you along for a current tour of our home so I can get you all up to date with the current state of our house.
If you're new here, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Maria Lorena and I started this blog as a way to exercise my creative muscle as I transitioned into a stay at home mom. To be honest, I was burnt out with corporate life and was desperate for a change. When my husband and I started our little family, I envisioned a career that would allow for greater flexibility than what my job allowed. So I decided to leave the corporate world behind.
Now, I'm a mother of two beautiful children and an energetic goldendoodle who loves attention. As time passes by, one thing has been constant - our home. You see, my husband and I did something that I think very few people do now a days so early on in their lives, we bought our FOREVER home. It's not the biggest nor smallest house on the block, it's not perfectly decorated or on the biggest lot, BUT it's on a great location, near family, and has the perfect amount of space for our family. We decided early on that we didn't care if we could afford a bigger, nicer house - we would make this house into our HOME and hence House by the Preserve was born.
BEFORE we moved in:
The floor plan was great for how we live, but that’s not to say we haven’t made some changes. From big and small projects, all of them contribute to making our house into our home. We’ve turned a bedroom into a home office for two, enclosed a lanai and created the perfect family hang out space, we’ve turned closets into an office space, and even hid a window! It's been a lot of trial and error and defining my style along the way has helped in creating a cohesive home.
AFTER 10 years living in our home:
The kids rooms are in constant rotation of toys and furniture rearranging as I try to maximize floor space while accomodating all the things that come with younger kids. Also, as their passions change, I try to incorporate whatever they are currently interested in into their space to encourage them to love their room (and not mine ;)).
