$100 Room Challenge: Closet Office Accessories

Can you guys believe it's already week 4 of the $100 Room Challenge?! If you're just joining me, this month has been flying by because I've been busy transforming a closet in our playroom into my very own office for just $100 in one month.

Check out week 1, week 2, and week 3 posts if you want to catch up.

This is an amazing challenge hosted by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry. Erin has appeared on the Rachel Ray Show and most recently on The Jason Show where she has talked about this challenge and even given some awesome tips. Go check her out, she's great!

I've been super busy doing A LOT of painting. The shelves have been painted white, the desk has been stained and several coats of polyurethane have been applied. Even the wallpaper has gone up! Cannot wait to show you...next week! In the mean time, here is a sneak peak of the wall color.

This week, we are talking all about accessories. Now that I have everything installed and painted, the accessories will be the icing on the cake! Since I went dark on the walls, I wanted the items that I used to dress up the shelves to pop, so I decided to get out my trusty copper spray paint and get to work!

I had previously spray painted silver a bunch of Dollar Tree organization baskets to help organize my Ikea raskog cart, but I got a little carried away and got way too many. WEll I can finally use the remaining baskets to use! I spruced them up a little by making them two toned, silver on the inside and copper on the outside. I love how these look against the blue walls! The white shelves really help the stand out!

I next needed to find a way to store all my card stock that I keep on hand for whenever I want to get creative with my Cricut. I had this old file folder box that I got years ago at Target. After a little measuring, I figured out that if I removed the bars on the sides and the top of the file folder box, I would be able to use it to store my card stock. I used white craft paint and gave the box several layers to make it fit the decor of the office.

Next to it, I spray painted copper this little metal basket that I got at the Target dollar spot and previously lived in my little one's nursery. We were no longer using it in there and I figured it would be great to store my Cricut vinyl. Love how it turned out because I can quickly see what vinyl I have in stock to get my crafting on.

If you have been following along, you know that I've been coveting this really beautiful chair from Amazon. I've been searching my local thrift stores and local neighborhood garage sales to see if I could find something similar and most importantly that would fit my budget. Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck. Oh well.

I still needed a solution for my desk chair, so I grabbed this extra one from my husband's office. It's pretty old and beat up but I was determined to make it work. I grabbed my trusty copper spray paint and got to work on the legs. I then added my favorite cozy white Ikea throw to tone down the black and added a little throw pillow that used to live in my baby boy's nursery. Although I was pretty bummed out that I couldn't find the chair that I really wanted I have to admit that this one turned out pretty cute. Most importantly, it's super comfortable and who can complain about that?!
