Holly Jolly Great Room

I am so excited to finally have the Christmas tree up I can barely contain myself! I was so excited to see Lucas's face as the tree and ornaments went up that it was the first thing that I did once the decorations started coming down from the attic.  (thanks hubby!)

My husband and I purchased this tree at Walmart about 2 years ago.  I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and we love that it is pre-lit.  Putting it up is a breeze and its a huge plus that we don't have to mess with adding lights.  Our ornaments are from a mixture of places that I have long since forgotten, but I try to reuse them every year and still do something a little bit different.

I wanted to keep the theme this year very Christmas traditional as I wanted to show Lucas what Christmas is all about.  At least in the red, green, sparkle and lights type of deal, so I decided to keep the ornaments in these same colors.  Along with some special ornaments that have been gifted to us over the years, like this one from my sister in law that includes the words of our wedding invitation.

Next to the tree, I placed this stocking holder that I got from Kirklands last year. I liked the idea of having one since we don't have a staircase or a fireplace to hang them from. This was the next best thing for our stockings.  I love the little Santa and reindeer at the top how it ties in nicely with the treeIt can also grow with us as our family grows by simply adding another hook.

On the coffee table ottoman, I placed a tray that I got from Winn Dixie believe it or not for $2.99. I loved the colors and thought it would be perfect for just this spot.  And if I ever got bored of it here, I can always use it to serve appetizers and such. The Christmas tree I got for $5 from the Target dollar isle and next to it are by far my favorite, two large bell ornaments that I got from the Dollar Tree.  They are so cute that I just could not resist! I finished off the tray by adding a DIY candle holder with some cranberries and a tea light.  If you are interested in how I made these, make sure you check this post!

I find that a simple way to add holiday decor is by using flowers, in this case, fake ones from the Dollar Tree.  I love having real flowers, but sometimes it isn't the most economical thing for us, so I just popped these fake ones in to the vase that was currently in the shelves and it just adds a nice pop of holiday cheer, don't you think?

My next favorite decor items in this room is these white Christmas tree trio that I purchased last year from Target.  I love the contrast against the blue walls and adds a nice holiday touch.

The table behind the couch was dressed up by using a table runner from you guess it, Target dollar spot. Added some fresh roses, another DIY candle holder with cranberries and a tea light, a cute little truck with a Christmas tree in the back (Target! for $3!) and a cute little picture of my love.

Add in some Christmas throw pillows from Target and Home Goods and the great room is officially decorated for the holidays!

Happy Holidays my friends! Hope you enjoyed this post.  If you did, make sure you subscribe to ensure you don't miss on the kitchen and dining room Christmas decor reveals!
