Merry Kitchen to You
Since the kitchen and dining room are all part of the great room, I also wanted to give them a little holiday cheer to tie in all three spaces. I didn't go too crazy decorating these spaces because the living room is carrying much of the decor weight so I wanted to be sure not to overwhelm the space with Christmas decorations. I started in the kitchen by simple hanging a t-shirt wreath over the pantry chalkboard door that was made for me by my sister in law. I have had it for years and I always seem to find a different spot for it every holiday season. It is something that I always look forward to hanging up. I then decided to spruce up the door by writing a little holiday saying and drawing some ornaments. This was my first attempt at doing a little chalkboard art and let me tell you, I am not good at it! LOL. I quickly found out that I have a hard time writing in an imaginary straight line! But never the less, I was committed in getting the door decorated. What do you guys think?
I then set up some delicious smelling eucalyptus that I always get during this time of year at Trader Joe's and placed in my favorite white water jug from HomeGoods. Next, I used one of my DIY candle jars and added some cranberries and a tea light for a little softness. Finished off the vignette with some pretty pine cones for interest.
Right off the kitchen is my current favorite little spot in the house, the cocoa bar. This was a last minute addition that was inspired by my many hours on instagram after Lucas goes to bed. I absolutely loved the idea of having one in the house and there have already been many a nights that the hubby and I wind down with some hot cocoa and Kahlua. Yum!
Above the bar, I placed some Dollar Tree flowers on the bottles to spice them up a little and bring more color to the bar area.
I kept the dining table fairly simple since this is a spot that we use every day for our meals. A jute red table runner on the table with a vintage Gold Imari bowl that was recently handed down to me from my mom. I filled the bowl with some leftover ornaments to give the table a nice Christmas glow. Such an easy way to add holiday decor to a space!
Up on the shelves, I used my favorite way to decorate for free, a printable! If you haven't seen my favorites this season, make sure you stay tuned for next week where I share where I got all my favorites! I added some DIY'd copper and silver painted pine cones to add a little something to the shelves.
Right below, I just placed some fresh flowers, more of the copper and silver pine cones, and a tea light. Very simple and light to balance the decor from the living room.
