Amazon Favorites: What I Keep on my Kitchen Counters

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. We spent the weekend getting the kids school supplies and school clothes ready as we head back to school! A part of me is a little sad that summer is over and the other is a little happy to have a little routine back again. I'll miss my little monsters but I'm excited to see them grow this new school year.

Today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite items that I keep on my kitchen counters. Our home is open concept, meaning that the family room, dining room, and kitchen are all open to each other, so I've always been careful as to what I keep out on our counters to make sure that it doesn’t look too cluttered. There's a mixture of decor, antiques, and kitchen utensils and small appliances. Some we use everyday while some we use a few times a week.

Starting on the counter closest to the dining room, I like to keep this side mostly with decorative items. A pretty picture that I printed off from a museum with free access and I keep my essential oil diffuser next to it. After cooking, I love diffusing orange or lemon essential oils because it gets rid of the food smells fast. I also always like to keep a candle in a little pedestal for when I feel like a little mood lighting as well.

I keep wooden utensils on this side on a container that I spray painted with white chalk paint. I also keep our salt and pepper grinders on a pretty little white plate or else the seem to blend in with our counters as they are similar in color.

Above our stove, the stuff is mostly decorative because I haven't been able to find anything really that's small and functional enough that fits in this space. Most of this stuff was actually favors that were given out at my parents wedding 45 years ago! My mom recently gave me a bagful of them and I've been having decorating with them.

On the other side of the stove, I have a little pedestal where I keep olive oil, salt and pepper. My salt and pepper containers were gifts from my mom so I've linked something similar. I find that by having them out like this, it's easier while I'm cooking and it's ingredients that we use daily.

The side next to the fridge is our hardest working side. This is where I keep all of our small appliances that we use everyday or often enough to have it sitting out on the counter. Our espresso machine is a family favorite and used several times throughout the day and has earned a permanent spot on the counter. The kitchen aid mixer helps us make pizza dough for our family “Pizza Friday” every week and the Berkey water filter is used by every member of our family several times throughout the day and makes our tap water tastes so good!
