Four Affordable ways to Transition your Decor from Summer to Fall

Happy September!

I have to say that this is my favorite time of year, not only because it’s my birthday month but also because it's finally FALL! It's my excuse to start changing up the decor around my home. Unfortunately, living in the sunshine state, that typically means that I don't really get to start feeling the weather get a little bit cooler or see the leaves start to change colors until much later in the year. But it is always fun to bring a little fall in to our home.

For me, it's less about decorating with pumpkins and gourds and more about adding subtle touches of fall throughout my home to make our space feel inviting yet cozy. Decorating for fall shouldn't be about buying new things but using what you already have in new and exiting ways.

Here are my four affordable ways to transition your decor from Summer to Fall.

Florals & Stems

One of my favorite ways to update the feel of my home as the seasons change is to update the florals. It's no secret that I'm a fan of using quality faux florals and have quite a few throughout my home. It's a simple way to bring the outside in, especially if you live in a place that the leaves are changing you can simply go outside to get the real thing!

Textiles

During the summer time, I tend to put away a lot our throw blankets and pillows as I tend to prefer a more minimal look. But once fall rolls around, I love pulling them back out. Adding a throw over your sofa or layering one over a chair instantly gives a feeling of coziness, a feeling a crave during those fall weather months. Updating your throw pillows is a simple touch that can go a long way. By swapping out your throw pillow covers to match your fall decor can bring the whole space together.

Scents

I love using candles during this time of year not only for the ambient light that they provide but also for the yummy scents! There's nothing like a good fall candle to help set the mood for the entire space. Apple, pumpkin, amber, and fig area all scents that can help your home feel and smell like fall.

Decorating with seasonal fruit

This doesn't necessarily have to mean pumpkins on your front porch, in fact, I rarely can decorate with real pumpkins on our front porch because the Florida weather just makes a big mess out of them. It is not pretty! I love brining in some artichokes or any seasonal fruit to help decorate our kitchen or dining room.

Decorating for fall doesn't necessarily mean going out and buying a whole new look. It's about using what you already have and using them in a fun, new way to help incorporate the Fall season into your decor. Grab a throw blanket and drape it over your couch, add some throw pillows to your favorite reading corner, and light up your favorite fall candle. It's all about making your home feel cozy and warm as the weather begins to change.
