Living Room Makeover - The Moodboard

The time has come to give our living room a makeover!

It’s been a long time coming and I’m SO happy that the day is finally here. As you know, for the past couple of years I’ve been working on making over our kitchen and earlier this year we finally were able to tackle our dining room. The living room was starting to feel out of place and I was itching to give this space a makeover so that it would flow well with our other two spaces.

The living room is the space in our home that we love to hang out as a family and also serves as a quiet space for my husband and I to hang out together after the kiddos have gone to bed. I wanted this room to have a more sophisticated look but also feel comfortable and cozy for when we are having family movie night.

Currently, this is what the space looks like:

Here’s the Mood Board for the space:

I’ve been working on streamlining our style as I continue working on our home. We’ve tried several styles and finally feel like we’ve found what we love rather than what’s currently popular. A modern traditionalist style is what we are after and we aren’t afraid of using color!

I’ve always wanted this side of the great room to have a darker feel since it is where we watch TV, so the walls are getting an update that will help tie in the kitchen and dining room spaces. I’ve landed on Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze and feel like it will tie in nicely with the kitchen and dining room spaces. A darker paint color is also a great way to help disguise the giant TV my husband insists we need, haha. I’m going to be using some furniture pieces that we already own, while bringing in some modern elements to help me create that minimalist, yet modern traditional look that I’m longing for this spring.

Most of the furniture pieces that we are reusing have traditional lines, so I’m focusing on bringing in modern elements to achieve a more modern traditionalist look. Below are some of the new pieces that I’m planning on bringing in to help me balance out the space.

Can’t wait to bring it all together! Stay tuned!

Here are my favorite allModern pieces that will help me transform our living room:

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with interior decorating and using my hands to create beautiful things to incorporate in my space.

I believe that making your house a home shouldn’t be a difficult or expensive but exciting and most of all fun! It isn’t about the size or location of your home but about being able to create a space that is yours to fit your budget without sacrificing style.

Having recently purchased our first home, we’ve been busy creating a space that is ours as we blend my and my husband’s styles together. Explore the site to see what we have accomplished!
