Design Series: Styling My Kitchen Counters
This past weekend we took a trip to north Georgia to stay in a cabin. It had been well over a year since we had taken a vacation and when our son suggested we go to a cabin for his birthday, I quickly took to Google and searched for the closest cabin in the mountains that I could find. So, to Helen, Georgia we went!
I was fully expecting a sitting by the fire, enjoying the cool weather kind of trip. But to our surprise we had 70+ degree days and cool nights that reminded me of Spring.
As soon as we got back home, I was itching to bring a little Spring into my decor. So today, I’m going to be showing you how I styled my kitchen counters for spring! It’s such a fun and simple way to add a little color to your kitchen.

I started by addressing the coffee area. This side of the kitchen tends to get a little cluttered because it’s the space that when we come in, everything gets dumped here. So, I kept things simple by just adding a pretty painting with bright colors and my favorite faux tulips.
I’m not a big fan of our kitchen backsplash but it’s not in the budget to switch it out, so for now my strategy has been to disguise/minimize your view of it. I added some wood cutting boards on the side to help.
Layering pieces in helps give the counters dimension and height. On the opposite side of the kitchen, I added color with more faux tulips and lemons. Letting my most used kitchen items be used as decor, I display them using a round marble tray that I layered on top of a wood cutting board.
I’ve been having so much incorporating my grandmother’s art in our home and the kitchen is no exception. She painted these small flower paintings back in the 80s and I love how they pop against our white walls.
Above the stove is also my favorite area display art. Another set from my Grandmother is displayed here. The colors are perfect for spring!
On the left-hand side of the stove, I kept things a little simpler since the right-hand side was busier. Another oil painting from my Grandmother is the star of this side and I wanted to keep everything else simple to let this piece shine. A small Target lamp and my favorite diffuser flank each side of the painting.
Our island gets a lot of use throughout the day so I tend to leave this space open. A simple candle and a soap dish is all that lives here.
Do you like to style your kitchen with decor? It honestly is the best way to dress up the kitchen a little, especially when it is open to other spaces in your home!
