A Summer Home Office Refresh

We recently purchased a new area rug for the living room that has set of a refresh in several areas of our home. Not only has the living room gotten a refresh, but also the home office and play room. I didn't intend for it to happen this way, but once I got started, I just couldn't stop. One purchase and bam! I've rearranged my entire house. Does that ever happen to you?!

The area rug that used to live in the living room now lives in the home office and I couldn't be more pleased. It looks SO good that I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn’t make this move sooner.

I find that my home is always in a state of constant change. I'm always moving furniture and décor pieces around to make use of what I already own in different, new ways. Hence the area rug change.

The goal one day is to fill these shelves with wall to wall books. It has always been a dream of mine to have a library in our home and we are well on our way. Slowly purchasing books we love!

Check out this post if you want to see how our home office has evolved into the space that it is today:

How to Create a Moody Home Office

With one simple addition, I was able to change the mood of the room. It's now a moody space that I love unwind in after our kiddos have gone to sleep.

Whether I'm in the mood for a drink or to read a good book, this is the spot that I gravitate to get a little quiet time.

See that new painting above the bar? That’s actually a painting done by my grandmother and it’s one of my absolute favorites. She’s so talented and I love incorporating her pieces in my home. In fact, you will come to notice that most of the art in our home are her pieces.

In the mornings, the sun shines in and it makes for the perfect working environment. The blue on the walls and rug are soothing but also don't put me sleep! The little sitting area by the window is my absolute favorite to enjoy my morning cup of coffee as I plan my day and before my kids wake up.

Giving the floor a little something to spruce up the builder grade carpeting that we aren’t able to update yet is a simple change that made a huge impact. Hope this post inspires you to try moving different decor pieces around your home. It will instantly make your room feel like new without spending any money!
