A look back at 2017 - The best of House by the Preserve

As 2017 draws to a close, I can't help but look at how much this little blog has changed. Although it was challenging at times as the blogging world is constantly changing, I'm working hard to adapt and try my best every day to deliver great content to you.

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the top five most popular posts of 2017. I'm making a point to take note of these posts because this is the direction that I want to continue to take House by the Preserve. Leave me a comment below and let me know if there are any other types of posts you would enjoy seeing in the future. I would love to hear from you!

Simple Stunning Ways to add Fall to your Home

The winner by a long shot! This blog post was super popular thanks to Pinterest. It's all about decorating for the fall season on a budget. As you may know, I don't like spending a lot of money on seasonal decor because I always tend to get bored with it easily. So I like to focus on either pieces that I can reuse throughout the seasons, inexpensive decorations, and/or DIY's to satisfy my decorating addiction.

Missed it? Make sure you take a look at some of the ways that I like to update my home for fall...without breaking the bank of course!

Top 5 ways to use Plants to Create an Amazing Entryway

One of my favorite ways to decorate for Spring is by starting at the front of your house. The most cost effective way to create a big impact without hurting your wallet is by using plants. Yep, plants! They can instantly add a much needed pop of color, finish of the space by bringing life into the room, or simply bring joy into your home. Because plants and flowers can instantly brighten someone's day. That special feeling that you get when you decorate your home with fresh flowers and how they can instantly make you smile as you walk into a room is just the type of feeling I like to replicate when decorating my entryway for spring. Check out my tips and bring in some greenery into your home this year!

Unclogging a Garbage Disposal...without the need of a Plumber!

When I wrote this post, I honestly didn't think that anyone would actually read it. But it's now on it's second year of being one of my most popular posts! I can thank that one Saturday morning where I decided to wake up early to make everyone breakfast, who knew egg shells would cause so much trouble?! It was my husband's and I's first adventure into fixing a major appliance. As new homeowner's, we were still pretty green to having stuff break. To my surprise, my husband knew exactly what to do and quickly took control of the situation while I stood back and documented everything. As a blogger, you are always looking for opportunities to create a great blog post. Well, here it is. In case you should ever need it!

How to Reupholster a chair...in FIVE easy steps!

This past year, our dining room got a little makeover after many months of searching for a new area rug for the space. After finally finding one, once I rolled it out and set it up with our dining set, I knew that I would have to reupholster the chairs to match. The previous upholstery was busy and bright. This new rug is an antiqued version of a Persian rug, so I decided that the best upholstery would be one without pattern. Check out how I reupholstered our dining room chairs in just FIVE easy steps.

Spring Decor Inspiration

My favorite time of the year is spring and as you will be able to tell from this post, I get really excited about it.  There's something about Spring that makes me giddy with happiness.  I love that the weather starts to get a little warmer, colors get brighter, and the days start getting a little longer.

One of the things that I truly enjoy doing during Spring is giving the house a little color makeover. I love bringing in bright colors to liven up the place after winter! A way that I plan on what direction I want to take with my decor is by searching for inspiration through catalogs and magazines. In this post, I've compiled my list of favorite Spring decor for 2017. Check them out and plan your own Spring makeover!

That's it you guys! Those are the top five posts for House by the Preserve (previously Dapper House Designs)! It's been a year filled with 2 major room transformations ( read all about them here and here), A LOT of organizing and cleaning (check them out here), and a whole lot of fun!

Thank you for reading and supporting my blog! I can't wait to show what I have in store for 2018!
